Housing and Homelessness Fellowship supported by Oak Foundation
Lígia Teixeira is Head of Research and Evaluation at Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people, working to end homelessness by delivering life-changing services and campaigning for change.
Lígia joined Crisis in March 2008 following earlier stints at the Young Foundation, the Refugee Council, and the International Labour Organisation. She is passionate about using sound evidence in the delivery of social justice and improved social interventions.
Lígia’s background is in academia. In 2007 she was awarded a doctorate at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is also actively involved in her local community in Crystal Palace and is a mother to an energetic four and a half year old.
Lígia finds inspiration in a Martin Luther King quote, often cited by the late Professor Aidan Halligan, a leading figure in inclusion health: ‘Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.’
