Umar Ansari is the Chief Executive of Youth Community Support Agency. The organisation aims to support vulnerable young people from BME backgrounds, helping them to achieve their potential and become valued members of our diverse communities. Umar has worked with the organisation for almost 12 years in a range of different roles, starting with the organisation in 2004 as a Youth Work volunteer.

His experience with the organisation has given him the opportunity to work with nearly 5,000 vulnerable young people and their families across a plethora of concerns including tackling identity issues, radicalisation, offending behaviours, addictions and integration.

Prior to his work with YCSA, Umar was involved with a local housing association, supporting the development of social support and youth services in line with the 'more than bricks and mortar' agenda.

His interest is social justice from a young age has involved him in numerous international volunteering projects and in 2013 he was nominated to participate in the Olympic Games' U.K. Community Activism on Youth Issues Exchange Programme to the United States.

His inspiration comes from the young people that the organisation supports, the staff team at YCSA and his son, fondly named 'Little Brave'.
