His experience with the organisation has given him the opportunity to work with nearly 5,000 vulnerable young people and their families across a plethora of concerns including tackling identity issues, radicalisation, offending behaviours, addictions and integration.
Prior to his work with YCSA, Umar was involved with a local housing association, supporting the development of social support and youth services in line with the 'more than bricks and mortar' agenda.
His interest is social justice from a young age has involved him in numerous international volunteering projects and in 2013 he was nominated to participate in the Olympic Games' U.K. Community Activism on Youth Issues Exchange Programme to the United States.
