Double Lockdown: Rebooting leadership in the Criminal Justice System and beyond

The Lived Experience Movement at the Centre for Knowledge Equity and Clore Social Leadership partner to offer a free online leadership programme for lived experience leaders (LEx Leaders) with direct, first-hand experience of the Criminal Justice System, who are working tirelessly across the entire social sector to support the communities they represent and serve.
Lived experience leaders*, working across the breadth of the Criminal Justice Sector, are facing challenges like never before. As the ongoing uncertainties of the “double lockdown” in prison, and complexities of a second wave of the pandemic are increasing, such leaders continue to work tirelessly on emergency responses, while others are moving towards thinking about recovery and renewal in a post-COVID world.
As our communities are facing ever-increasing economic hardships and other social inequalities such as racial injustice, there is growing urgency about our ability to collectively respond. We need Lived Experience Leaders to have the opportunity to develop so they can effectively challenge these injustices and positively transform the sector.
This free, bespoke online leadership programme is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for leaders with lived experience of the criminal justice system. It will enable lived experience leaders to elevate their leadership potential, build leadership skills, and strengthen collective action to drive positive change, tackle systemic inequalities, and equip them to respond effectively to the challenges brought about by Covid-19.
Participants will emerge feeling more confident, connected, and supported by a group of like-minded peers, and equipped with collaborative, generous, and courageous leadership capabilities - all key skills for leading social change in complex and uncertain times.
Applications are open to lived experience leaders working at various levels across the Criminal Justice Sector. With equity at its heart, this programme will prioritise people of colour, women and those working outside of London.
The programme will include an array of leadership development tools and opportunities, including an introduction into key social leadership skills and behaviours, professional coaching, and action learning sets designed to fuel innovations for solutions to real-life challenges.
