Launch of Social Leaders North East funded by The Rank Foundation
04 June 2024
Clore Social Leadership is pleased to announce the launch of Social Leaders North East. The programme is aimed at emerging leaders in Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland. Designed to enhance strategic roles, this initiative boosts community impact by building resilience, confidence and a strong support network.
The North East is one of the areas that has been the hardest hit during the cost of living crisis. This coupled with years of underfunding and austerity has resulted in leaders in the charity sector working tirelessly to assist the recovery of their communities. This programme is for leaders in small local organisations with a turnover of up to £500,000 annually. They will have the chance to develop their leadership skills, empowering them to help their community thrive.
Taking place between October 2024 and June 2025, Social Leaders North East aims to bring together 20 participants to build capacity, strengthen communities, and learn from one another. We want to create a space where they feel safe and energised and can develop a network of other community leaders to collaborate with past the length of the programme.
Clore Social Leadership is on a mission to democratise leadership, making development accessible to every social leader in the UK for a fair and equitable society. As part of this, we are strongly committed to supporting leaders from the Global Majority, and we actively encourage applications from people from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Caroline Broadhurst, Deputy CEO of The Rank Foundation said:
"The Social Leaders North East programme will be hugely important in helping the region's existing and emerging social leaders build the skills and confidence they need to help our local communities. This, combined with the support networks they will develop through the programme, will provide a much-needed boost for them and the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise sector to respond to ever-changing need. The Rank Foundation is delighted to be a part of this wonderful initiative."
Nadia Alomar, CEO of Clore Social commented:
“We are thrilled to launch the Social Leaders North East programme, supporting emerging leaders to drive impactful change in their communities. By developing local leaders with the skills and networks they need, we believe this initiative will foster stronger, more resilient communities in Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Redcar and Cleveland. Our heartfelt thanks to The Rank Foundation for making this transformative programme possible, and to our collaborators for their incredible support."
Applications are now open with only limited spaces available. The deadline is Monday 22 July 2024.
