Digital Leader Cymru7 March - 8 April 2022A five-week self-guided course for individuals working in the social sector to develop a greater understanding of the tools, knowledge and stages of developing a digital strategy. The course will have two live classes where you can interact with others that are adapting their services to the demands of an internet enabled world. Free Applications closed Register for updatesProgramme informationThe Digital Leader Cymru course, taking place from March - April 2022, is open to digital advocates of multiple levels of experience and sub-sectors within the social sector in Wales looking to understand and deliver structured digital change in their organisation. Now more than ever, as digital has become a fundamental part and an expectation in a high number of service delivery areas, it is crucial that individuals in the social sector gather a baseline understanding and develop digital networks. Partner & funders![]() What to expectSelf-directed learningLearning throughout the course will be self-directed, meaning that, you will navigate thought the content independently. Participation in the live classrooms will encourage you to think critically about your skills, and the forum will enable you to ask further questions with your fellow cohort. You will need a high level of personal commitment to set time aside and get the most out of the significant learning content available. As with most things, the more you put in, the more you’ll get out. Strong peer networksYou’ll learn alongside a group of 10-25 peers who will support, challenge, and inspire you. You will emerge with a powerful peer network of changemakers ready to take on today's digital challenges. Live ClassroomsYou will get access to two Live Classrooms, taking place at set dates and times you will be informed of in advance. Here you'll come together with your peers and a facilitator to discuss, debate, and reflect on your learning. Fitting your scheduleThe course will take place exclusively online over the span of five weeks. It is designed to fit around and complement your day-to-day work and will require an approximate time commitment of 2-4 hours per week.
Grow your confidence and learn to lead digitallyOutcomesThroughout the course, you will reflect on yourself and the sector, assess your development needs, and be encouraged to compile a digital strategy. The strategy will include a digital leadership plan for the future. This will enable you to, approach digital challenges, involve/ influence others, develop a wider perspective, gain confidence, and self-awareness. Devise a digital strategy for your organisation and pin down clear, tangible actions you can take to grow your individual and organisational digital skills even further. In addition to your course peers, you will have the opportunity to connect and learn from with other changemakers from across our online community. Eligibility criteriaOpen to all levels of experienceThis course can be relevant and valuable for participants with all levels of experience who are looking to boost their digital leadership skills. Recommended for those from smaller organisationsThe course is recommended for those from small-medium organisations (up to £5m annual turnover). Working for social purposeThis refers to organisations or freelance work with a social purpose, including charities, social enterprises, CICs, CSR departments, etc. Keen to developYour determination to develop your digital skills and leadership so you can lead social change effectively is key to getting the most out of this course.

With a comprehensive digital diagnostic, you will learn to accurately assess your digital strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement so you can successfully combat the fear of digital leadership. Week twoAssessing the digital landscapeWeek two focuses on the opportunities and challenges of today's digital context. You will learn about big data, the ethical principles of digital transformation, user experience (UX), and more, so you make the most of what’s out there. Week threeYour organisationWeek three will be looking at your organisation's digital maturity. Topics will address the digital work crisis, digital maturity not digital transformation. By the end of the week, you will have developed a digital action plan designed to take your organisation in the right direction. Week fourWorking with others digitallyWeek four will be looking at tools for managing teams remotely. None of us exist or succeed in isolation. You will understand how to successfully translate your interpersonal leadership skills into a digital setting. Week fiveTake actionWeek five helps you ensure you're heading in the right direction. You will consolidate the learning from the last four weeks and chart the next steps in your organisation's digital journey, by creating a clear, actionable digital strategy. How you'll learnMondayAt the beginning of the week you will be introduced to the week's content. You will receive a practical task to finish by the end of the week. ThursdayFinish the practical task and receive a reflective writing task, designed to help you become familiarised with employing self-reflection techniques. SundayYou have until Sunday to consolidate the week's learning into a reflective writing task. Tasks won't be assessed, but we recommend completing them to solidify learning. Live ClassroomsDuring the programme there are two online Live Classrooms (first and third Tuesdays during the course timeframe) where you and your cohort will discuss the issues you've been working on. Frequently Asked QuestionsThe Digital Leadership Course is open to leaders of multiple levels of experience (Experienced Leaders, Emerging Leaders, Community Leaders and New Managers). Please specify your level in the application form and you will be assigned to the appropriate cohort with your peers. Those from smaller charities are likely to benefit most from the course. It’s different from person to person but we suggest allocating two-four hours a week. As with most things, the more participants immerse themselves in the course, the more they'll get out of it. Yes.
